“War on the Border” points to the facts that state that the US government and defense contractors are making the southern US border a war zone. Only when it benefits the US government and capitalist corporations does the US-Mexico border become a safe place to cross. This man made border has become a place of death instead of a place where two countries meet and share their respective similarities and differences with one another and build a mono-culture of their own. It is ridiculous to claim that the US-Mexico border is a place that is a target location for terrorist to cross. If a terrorist wanted to terrorize the US, it would do so regardless of the Border Patrol’s fancy warfare technology. As stated in the article, in 2012, not one international terrorist was captured by an agent. It is ridiculous that amount of money and terrorizing that is put into the border. The money that is put into strengthening the border control could be used to fund our educational system and teach our future generations how not to be prejudice, racist, and capitalistic. It is a saddening result that so much money is being pumped into border surveillance, which is not needed. All this money could be used to better our nation’s welfare and to decrease our dependency on fossil fuels. Regardless of this fact, the US and its’ institutions are declaring a war on the border and have no one else to blame but themselves once they see people retaliating their criminalizing behavior. Regardless of the “need” for border patrol, the actions and abuse the agents infuse on people who are trying to cross the border for economic betterment or a better life is not needed and should be reevaluated.
