JE #1B

The lone ranger is about the fight for justice. In the character of the lone ranger, the trait of justice is personified. In tonto, the traits exemplified are reverence and loyalty. The lone ranger comes to the rescue because he is noble and brave and out of a desire to see justice fulfilled. He has a good moral compass and he is heroic. Tonto is the sidekick that is there so that the lone ranger has a connection with the native american tribes. The lone ranger is a vigilante with a hidden identity. The protection of secrecy is reserved for the noble white savior. Tonto, by way of his appearance, is attacked. If the roles weren't this way, the lone ranger couldn't swoop in at the last minute to save everyone. Tonto and the native americans are purposely presented this way.

In Speedy Gonzalez, the brown skin characters are the ones that prevail in the end. In fact, the poverty experienced by the mice is something to be sympathized with. Daffy Duck is the enemy that doesn't care that he has taken someone's home. In the lone ranger, the native americans are misunderstood and thought to be violent thieves. It's confusing that in some ways, both these shows despite being offensive are in some ways progressive.
