Speedy:
¡Ándale! ¡Ándale! ¡Arriba!
¡Arriba! Hola amigos!
Speedy:
Okay pues, what does Border Consciousness mean to you?
Rudy
Robles: Uhhh I think I’ll pass that question. *whispers* I was born in East LA.
Speedy:
Aww c’mon, don’t be a poosy cat ese.
Rudy
Robles: Uhhh well I think it has to do with borders and being conscious.
Ivon:
No shit Sherlock. I think it’s a process of becoming aware of the confines the
border imposes and the desire to resist those confines.
Speedy:
Ooooo sí sí. What Borders have you crossed?
Rudy
Robles: Well you wouldn’t believe the shit I went through! I had to ACTUALLY
cross the border. Beat that man. *whispers* I was born in East LA.
Ivon:
Well upon reflection, I think I was suffering from cultural schizophrenia due
to being torn between my hometown of El Paso and new home in Los Angeles. It’s
something that is still on my mind, but I think I’ve conquered it.
Shelley:
Well, I felt like I was in limbo…
Speedy:
Das Neplanta mija…
Shelly:
Oh okay Neplanta. I was fascinated by my ancestry yet was suffering from
historical amnesia. I suppose learning about my culture was the border I
crossed.
Miguel
Chico: Leaving my family was the biggest border I’ve crossed because I can be
myself when I’m not around them, which I am very grateful for.
Miguel
Grande: ¡Cállate mi hijo! Such a joto. Be a man for
once and find a mujer to fulfill your needs, like I do.
Speedy:
Aye! It looks like we have special guests! Oye!
Tonto:
Hi. I, Tanto. We come.
Speedy:
Órale carnal! Bienvenidos!
Lone
Ranger: Hello all, I just wanted to let everyone know I don’t mean to be an ASS…I
just can’t help it.
Speedy:
Uhhh okay ese, whatever you say gringo! Adios everybody!
