JE #6

Mama Chona- 9 she perfectly portrays internalized racism with her hatefulness toward indigenous peoples..Also, She feels superior because of the type of Spanish she speaks, she links herself to Spanish ancestry and denies her indigenous.

Angie 8 she is very obedient and superficial and tries to portray a happy family even though there is conflict between her and felix. Her internal self does not reflect on her external self. She creates a boundary within herself.

Felix 7 He is Queer and attempt to take hold of his sexuality and instead he violates other peoples bodies, and like the colonizers harasses bodies according to his will. Also, he suffers from a form of internalized racism when he degrades the workers by name-calling

Miguel Grande 8 Sexist and homophobic asserts his patriarchal role and lack of respect for women. Sees women as objects that should be dependent and appreciative of him. Feels superior because of Spanish. Extremely problematic

Miguel Chico 8 He is completely institutionalized in the form of education and religion. He has a feeling of superiority towards Maria and family because of his personal experiences.

Juanita 6 seemingly indifferent about her husbands affair but at the same time she is very submissive

Lola 5 has control over her sexuality and uses men for her pleasure

Joel 5 ashamed of her mother accent and did not speak up against the murder of his father

Nina 4 she defended herself from her father and was connected to her feelingw. She did not filter herself so much


Lena 4  she is aware of conflicting cultures she  and somewhat advocated for justice after her fathers death
