JE #1B

I had never seen nor heard about the lone ranger prior to this point but the theme music is a recognizable classic. After watching the episode, I see how it portrays the white men differently than the ‘indians’. The ranger is portrayed as the hero or ‘white savior’ who NEEDS to save the indians because they cannot save themselves. This episode also belittles Indians because one of the white men says “all Indians look the same” when one comes to talk to them. The white men are in an environment where they are portrayed to be the ultimate power and that is especially seen when the white man is whipping the indian and the indians are just standing there taking it. The lone ranger differentiates people by their class and of course, has the white men on top.The lone ranger is different to speedy gonzales because the lone ranger definitely emphasizes on the whole white savior hero thing. Speedy Gonzales is more of a less obvious racism because speedy always seems to have the last laugh and has fun when playing tricks on the villain.
